Top 5 Moments of 2018 (Year in Review)

2018 wasn’t all that eventful for me. I did, however, experience some ups and downs. It wasn’t the best year yet, but it also wasn’t the worst year. Despite a few setbacks, there are a handful of moments that I will forever cherish and hold dear to my heart. These moments outweighed the bad times and are a huge reason why I’m looking forward to a great 2019.

1. Getting a car after 5 years!

I was in a terrible accident back in 2013, which caused me to have driving anxiety. I talked about it in my Happy Thanksgiving! + What I’m Thankful For 2018 post. It was so bad that I thought I would never drive again. I was afraid to admit the real reason why I wasn’t driving. The people closest to me (my immediate family) were the only people who knew the truth. Going into 2018, I knew it was time. Time to stop making excuses and time to get out there and make something happen, and guess what? I did. February 3, 2018, I got a car. I was on cloud 9 the entire day. It was the highlight of my year. If you’ve never experienced driving anxiety, you probably don’t understand the magnitude of this moment. It wasn’t so much about the car itself; it had more to do with me overcoming a fear I had for so long. A huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders. 2018 was off to a great start!

2. DJ’s 6th Birthday!

April 1, 2018, we took a trip to Panama City Beach, Florida for DJ’s birthday, and it was a lot of fun. Though my parents and I have been to Panama so many times over the years, it was DJ’s first time going to the beach. To witness how much fun he had, and to see him not want to leave made the trip so special. Also, a vacation with my immediate family was long overdue. We plan to take him to Disney World this year. I’m super stoked!

3. Visiting my boyfriend’s hometown!

My boyfriend is from Eufaula, Alabama. On July 28, 2018, just a few days before we made our relationship official, he took me there to meet his mom and to learn more about where he grew up. I also met some of his friends and ate the best donuts I’ve ever had. It was a wonderful day. It showed me a lot about who he is as a person and gave me a glimpse of the kind of life we would have together. Who knew such a simple day would bring so much joy to my heart?!

On July 31st, we decided to be together.

4. His 29th Birthday!

August 31, 2018. I was determined to surprise him for his birthday to show him how much he means to me. He kept telling me how much he hates surprises, but I wasn’t hearing it. His mom helped me get the family together for a surprise birthday dinner. Needless to say, he enjoyed it and was so happy and thankful in the end.

His mom made his favorite – strawberry cake. It was so good.

5. Meeting my Goddaughter, Sariah Dior Kendall!

On October 7, 2018, I got to meet my Goddaughter for the first time. It was such a special moment being able to hold her and look into her eyes. She was (and still is) the prettiest little angel. I was instantly in love. I’m so honored to be her Godmother. I’ll always be there to love, guide, and protect her. Fun fact: I helped her mom come up with her name. Sariah means “princess” and Dior means “golden.” I often call her my little princess.
